Barrier-free accessibility

Technical information

Pursuant to the “Barrier-free Information Technology Directive” (Barrierefreie Informationstechnik Verordnung – BITV) dated 17.07.2002, all public bodies are required to design and program their websites in a way that permits barrier-free access.

Esslingen am Neckar Council strives to fulfil these requirements and undertakes to maintain and improve barrier-free accessibility on an ongoing basis. Validated code and the use of the HTML-4 standard in conjunction with CSS form part of this strategy.

We endeavor to program our web pages in such a way that they can be optimally displayed by as many browser types, browser versions and operating systems as possible. In some cases, we are unable to achieve this for technical reasons and reasons linked to barrier-free accessibility.

We regret that in the case of generation 3 and 4 browsers (e.g. Netscape 4.x), there may be a loss of display quality or no display at all.

Some services on www.esslingen.de require your system to fulfil further technical criteria. These are listed with the respective application.
